Seven Golden Globe Nominations for E1 Entertainment

·         Two first-time nods for an E1-produced show

·         Five nominations for E1-distributed content  .

 

Los Angeles, CA and Toronto, ON – December 15, 2009 – Leading independent studio E1 Entertainment tallied an impressive seven Golden Globe nominations for its produced and distributed film and television content, including a Best Actor nod for Thomas Janeand Best Supporting Actress for Jane Adams for their roles in the HBO hit series, HUNG.  E1 is the production company for HUNG , which goes into production on Season Two in spring 2010.  

“It is an especially proud and pivotal moment for E1 because it marks the first Golden Globe™ nominations for an E1-produced television show,” said John Morayniss, E1 Television’s CEO. “No one plays a pimp and whore better than Thomas Jane and Jane Adams.”

Anna Paquin (True Blood) received a Best Actress nomination for the made-for-TV-movie THE COURAGEOUS HEART OF IRENA SENDLER.  The film, produced in conjunction with Hallmark Hall of Fame and distributed world-wide by E1, is based on the true story of World War II heroine and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Irena Sendler and has sold internationally to TeleMunchen Gruppe and Leda Films.

Nominated for Best Foreign Language film, BAARIA is Giuseppe Tornatore's lush remembrance of life in a typical Sicilian village; E1 Entertainment will distribute the film in the U.K. and in Canada by early 2010.  THE LAST STATION, a cinematic biography of Leo Tolstoy received two nods, including Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama (Helen Mirren) and Best Supporting Actor (Christopher Plummer). E1 owns all rights for THE LAST STATION in Benelux.

Critic’s darling Carey Mulligan was honoured with a nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama in AN EDUCATION.  E1 UK holds the distribution rights to this coming of age story set in the 1960s. Already in theatres, this Golden Globe nomination should keep it there well into 2010.

The Golden Globe announcements were made early Tuesday morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.  The winners will be announced on NBC on Sunday, January 17th, 2010 (8:00-11:00 p.m. ET).
