CBS unveils original Canadian drama series in New York

TORONTO – May 21, 2009 – E1 Entertainment is pleased to announce that the original Canadian drama series, The Bridge, will launch on CBS as a mid-season show and could air as early as mid-November, 2009.  The announcement, and initial screening, was made at a CBS advertiser upfront in New York.

“This major step forward for The Bridge franchise is a testament to the quality of the show and significantly augments the show’s potential for future growth,” said John Morayniss, CEO, E1 Television.

The epic cop drama reveals the struggle of street cops who must not only battle criminals, but also their own bosses in order to protect society and ultimately themselves.  The show is formed by the insights of veteran insider and outspoken former Toronto police union head Craig Bromell.

“Today’s announcement marks a major achievement for Canadian produced shows, and demonstrates to the world that Canada’s creative talent is robust.  We hope the Canadian government recognizes these achievements and continues to uphold Canadian content requirements for our Canadian broadcasters,” said Laszlo Barna, President, E1 Television.
